Useful Tips

Before leaving for Australia it is best to be well prepared if you wish to start working as soon as you arrive as processing and registration takes time. Our suggestion is to start BEFORE you leave and have as much of the paperwork completed so as to ensure that you have provided everything that is required for you to work in Oz. That way it may not be necessary for you to carry original documents that may become lost during your travels.

Check out all of the requirements here: http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/

Once registered with AHPRA http://www.ahpra.gov.au you are able to work anywhere in Australia. You will be required to obtain a Police Check and a WWCC (Working With Children Check) before working in our health care system. So if you have a recent one from your home country please bring an original with you. It would be more than helpful for to be work ready if you had three written professional references on letterhead plus phone and fax numbers to enable your referees to be contacted.
